NEWPORT STREET PASTORS
Street Pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who patrol in teams of three, usually from 10pm until 4am on Friday and Saturday nights, to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets.
The street pastors have been patrolling the city centre for the past 6 years and have built up good relations with the public, the police , premises staff and the City Council.
There is always a need for this help, and also for helpers to be in the night base, which is situated on Stow Hill, to provide refreshments to the pastors on duty and to the police.
The Rev Michael Jarman, our Priest in Charge is a Street Pastor, and we also provide a church member to help in the Street pastor base.
